How it works
Federal law asks state Medicaid EVV systems to verify six things about each personal care and home health visit. This tool checks that each row has a value for each one:
- Type of service: a service name or procedure code.
- Individual receiving the service: a client name or member ID.
- Date of service.
- Location: an address or GPS latitude (and longitude, if you match that column).
- Individual providing the service: a worker name or ID.
- Time the service begins and ends: both a start and an end time.
It also flags an end time that is not after the start time (an overnight visit typed as times only will show here; check it) and, when you match a manual edit column and a reason column, a manual edit with no reason code. Most states want a reason on every edited visit.
A row that passes here can still be rejected by a state aggregator, which also checks formats, IDs against its own records and state-specific fields. Check your state Medicaid agency's EVV specification. Read What is EVV? The six data elements.
