How it works
An authorization lets you bill a payer for a set number of units of a service between two dates. Units delivered beyond it, or after it expires, are usually not paid, so the time to notice is before the last visit, not when the claim comes back.
- Units used = visits x units per visit (or the number you enter).
- Days passed = days from the start date to the as-of date, counting both.
- Burn rate = units used / days passed x 7.
- Even pace = authorized units / total days x 7.
- Projected by end = units used + (units used / days passed) x days left.
- Run-out date = as-of date + units left / (units used / days passed).
Some authorizations limit units per week or per month as well as in total; check each limit on the authorization letter. Ovel EVV checks every visit against the authorization when it is booked and warns before it expires. See How to bill 15-minute units.
